This marker is out on Hwy J17 between Patterson and Turlock, CA.  I stopped here, and at the marker to the right with my daughter.  Not sure why, just sharing the real world with her, but I also emphasized that wearing our seatbelts is really important.

This second marker is at the site of a teenage girl who was hit by a drunk driver, and ejected from her car because she was not wearing her belt.  The inscription on the yellow cross reads “One angel gone is one angel too many.”

I watch for these along the highway’s edge, and silently remember that someone’s loved one died there.
